Emaho Sekawa is a three-villa adults-only retreat above Savusavu Bay, for couples who want a chef, a private pool and nobody else around. Getting there means a domestic flight from Nadi to Savusavu, and the transfer from that airstrip is included in the rate. There are three villas, each with a pool of its own, one guest-only restaurant, and a private beach of about two kilometres reached on foot or by a short drive. It is a hillside retreat rather than a beachfront resort, and that difference matters. Guests praise the privacy of the villas, the ocean views and the private pools, the made-to-order dining and the personal service, and the Savusavu activities that come with the rate. The complaints are that it is not classic beachfront, the domestic flight and transfer logistics, wet-season rain and mosquitoes, and three villas' worth of availability. The thing people wish they had known is to fix the domestic flight times before booking the international ones. The rate covers every meal, made to order by the resident chef and served in the villa or at the guest-only restaurant, the drinks, the retreat's activities and guided tours, the snorkelling, the laundry, Wi-Fi and the Savusavu airport transfer; premium labels are not specified and the spa is charged, so ask what your rate covers at the bar. Villa Emaho, at 85 square metres for two, is the couples' villa, and The Grand Residence takes six across three bedrooms. Families, and anyone who wants a beach at the door, should look at the resorts on Viti Levu.
