Heritage Resorts occupies the Domaine de Bel Ombre on the south coast of Mauritius, and the estate is the point: a championship golf course, a nature reserve running back into the hills, and a stretch of southern coastline that is quieter and wilder than the busier north and west of the island. Two resorts sit on it, and guests can generally use facilities across both, which is what makes the estate worth more than either property alone.

Heritage Awali is the family and golf resort, thatched and African-inflected in style, and it runs a genuine all-inclusive plan. Heritage Le Telfair is the colonial-style, wellness-leaning sibling, rated higher again by guests in our catalog, and it sells board more flexibly rather than defaulting to inclusive. That split is the single most useful thing to know about this group: same estate, same beach, quite different holidays and quite different rate structures.

    Heritage Le Telfair is an all-suite resort at Bel Ombre, on the quieter south coast of Mauritius. Two golf courses sit behind it, and a spa of six treatment rooms. The 158 suites start at 62 square metres and reach 104 on the beachfront, which is generous by any standard, and the family provision is deeper than most luxury resorts manage: a baby club from birth to three at no charge, a kids club to eleven, and a teen programme. There is an adults-only wing with its own pool, heated through the Mauritian winter. The all-inclusive here has a name and you have to ask for it. Gourmet Bliss is the package, and it is unusually broad: it opens up the restaurants across the whole Bel Ombre estate rather than just this hotel's, with one exception, and it stocks the minibar daily with soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits and snacks. Bed and breakfast and half board are also sold, so the plan is a choice rather than a given. The exclusions are specific and worth checking against your appetite: lobster, foie gras and the Exclusive Cellar wine lists are outside it. Lasers, kayaks, pedal boats, a glass-bottom boat and snorkelling are included; specialist watersports, cruises and spa treatments are not. Our samples put a night between 294 and 436 dollars for two, which is remarkable value for an all-suite resort with this much behind it. Golfers staying a week or more should confirm which rounds their rate includes at both courses, and families with infants should check baby-club capacity rather than assume it. The airport is about forty-five minutes away.
