Bluesun Hotels resorts, ranked

  1. Modern white resort building with blue-windowed facade overlooking pool deck, loungers, and pergola-covered dining area beneath rocky mountains.

    Bluesun Hotel Alga

    Four-star4.3 guest rating (3,972)Palmprint 8.1/10From $71/night pp

Bluesun Hotel Alga is a beachfront four-star at Tucepi on the Makarska Riviera, for families who want the Adriatic and a short walk into town. It is about two hours from Split's airport, with 377 rooms, two restaurants and indoor, outdoor and children's pools, on the pebble beach that runs the length of Tucepi. The board plans are the thing to read here: full board and all-inclusive are both sold, and the difference between them is the drinks. Guests praise the beachfront position, the variety of the food, the cleanliness, and Tucepi itself. The complaints are July and August crowds, all-inclusive terms that are not clear from the public pages, and the pebble entry that comes with this coast. The thing people wish they had known is exactly the first of those, because not every rate includes the drinks and the plan has to be confirmed. Where a rate carries all-inclusive, expect the meals at the two restaurants and the bar service that rate names, with Wi-Fi included; the premium a la carte coverage, the spa, and any shuttle for that two-hour drive are extra, and the beverage list is not published. Ask exactly which drinks your plan pours before you pay for it. The 20-square-metre standard double is the value and the 45-square-metre Suite with Balcony is the space, and either way it is worth asking for a sea-facing room and packing water shoes. Anyone travelling in high summer should expect the resort full.

  2. Multiple connected pools with blue loungers and white umbrellas, surrounded by pine trees, with a beach and turquoise sea beyond.
