    The Mora Zanzibar

    Five-star4.8 guest rating (3,714)Palmprint 9.1/10From $157/night pp

The Mora is a large all-inclusive on Muyuni Beach in the north of Zanzibar, for couples and families who want the plan to carry the week. It is about 45 minutes from the airport, with 250 suites, four restaurants, four pools and a kids' club, on a calm stretch facing Mnemba Island. It is new, it is polished, and it is nowhere near a town, which is why the plan does more work here than at most resorts. Guests praise the Muyuni beachfront, the spacious clean suites, the variety of the included food, and the staff. The complaints are the distance from any outside restaurant, teething issues at a resort this new, and extras and excursions that feel expensive against the rate. The thing people wish they had known is that this is a 250-suite resort rather than a boutique one, and that the plan matters because there is almost nothing within walking distance. The plan covers the food and drink across the four restaurants, the all-day dining, a custom minibar, Wi-Fi and the kids' club for children up to twelve; the spa, the excursions and the airport transfer are extra, and the premium bottles are not spelled out anywhere public. With no walkable alternative, it is worth asking what the plan pours before you arrive. The Superior Junior Suite Ocean View is the category that buys the setting and the Family Junior Suite is the one built for children. Anyone who wants a small, local-feeling hotel should compare the boutique places along this coast.
