Top 10 All-Inclusive Resorts in Zanzibar

Zanzibar's fifteen open all-inclusives split between two coasts with different rules. Nungwi and Kendwa at the north tip keep deep water at the beach all day, which is why the Hotel Riu Palace Zanzibar, Royal Zanzibar and Gold Zanzibar sit there. The long east coast, from Matemwe and Kiwengwa down to Bwejuu, has the postcard lagoon, where the sea walks out at low tide and comes back a few hours later.

The ranking below orders them by the overall Palmprint, then guest ratings. Eight of the fifteen sell all-inclusive as standard and seven sell it as an add-on, so the plan column matters as much as the score. The From price is per person per night for two adults sharing.

October 2026 review: 15 open resorts on Zanzibar, 13 five-star and 2 four-star, none adults-only. Eight sell all-inclusive as standard and seven offer it as an optional add-on. Sampled two-adult From rates ran from $185 to $1,121 a night, median $390 ($92 to $560 per person, median $195). The Mora Zanzibar and Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort led the overall Palmprint at 9.1, ahead of Baraza Resort & Spa and Meliá Zanzibar at 8.9.

  1. Large resort pool with white umbrellas, lounge chairs, and palm trees lining the deck, with a terracotta building and cabanas under a blue sky.
    No. 1. The Mora Zanzibar
    Matemwe, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.8 (3,752)From $157/night ppOverall Palmprint 9.1/10

    True all-inclusive product

The Mora is a large all-inclusive on Muyuni Beach in the north of Zanzibar, for couples and families who want the plan to carry the week. It is about 45 minutes from the airport, with 250 suites, four restaurants, four pools and a kids' club, on a calm stretch facing Mnemba Island. It is new, it is polished, and it is nowhere near a town, which is why the plan does more work here than at most resorts.

  2. Beachside hammock and umbrella at Tulia Zanzibar with ocean view, straw hat, and pool edge in foreground.
No. 2. Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort
    Pongwe, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.8 (318)From $430/night ppOverall Palmprint 9.1/10

    True premium all-inclusive concept

Tulia Zanzibar is a sixteen-unit all-inclusive at Pongwe, for couples who want a villa and a plan with no bracelet and no bill to sign. It is about 50 minutes from the airport on Zanzibar's east coast, with sixteen bungalows and villas from 120 to 190 square metres, one a la carte restaurant, two waterslides and private pools in the top categories. The airport transfer is inside the rate, which is rare here, and so are the premium drinks.

  3. Thatched-roof bungalow with wooden deck, two lounge chairs, and tropical vegetation surrounding the Meliá Zanzibar.
    No. 3. Meliá Zanzibar
    Kiwengwa, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.7 (2,010)From $217/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.9/10

    Reef-protected 300-meter beach

Melia Zanzibar holds sixteen hectares and 300 metres of white sand at Kiwengwa, on the north coast. A natural coral reef protects the beach, which makes swimming calmer here than most of the island manages. Six restaurants and five bars sit across the estate, along with a spa of six treatment rooms and pools that include an adults-only one for guests over sixteen.

  4. White Moorish-style building with arched openings and upper balcony surrounded by tall palm trees and manicured lawn at Baraza Resort & Spa.
No. 4. Baraza Resort & Spa
    Dongwe, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.7 (352)From $561/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.9/10

Small all-villa format with very large accommodations.

A small adults-only place on Zanzibar's coast done up in Swahili-palace style, carved arches and Arab baths at the Frangipani spa. It's built for couples: dinners on the beach under the stars, dhow cruises at sunset, and some of the Indian Ocean's best diving right offshore. Quiet, romantic, and a little theatrical in the best way.

  5. Hotel Riu Palace Zanzibar
No. 5. Hotel Riu Palace Zanzibar
    Nungwi, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.6 (2,686)From $137/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.8/10

    True 24-hour RIU all-inclusive model.

Hotel Riu Palace Zanzibar is a 24-hour all-inclusive on the Nungwi coast, for people who want the island's best swimming beach and a swim-up suite. It has 100 rooms, three pools with a swim-up bar and three restaurants, on the northern tip where the water stays clear and the tide matters less than it does further round the island. Riu's plan runs around the clock, which is the other reason people book it.

  6. Infinity pool with tiled floor reflects palm trees and a beachfront pavilion with tan umbrellas and lounge chairs under clear blue sky.
    No. 6. The Residence Zanzibar
    Kizimkazi, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.5 (875)From $179/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.8/10

Every villa has a private pool

The Residence Zanzibar is 66 villas on a secluded stretch of the southwest coast at Kizimkazi, and every single one has a private pool. That is the proposition: gardens, quiet, space and water you never share, with two restaurants, The Dining Room and The Pavilion, and a main pool with a shallow end for children. The beach here is tidal, so how much sand and how much swimming you get changes through the day.

  7. Cream-colored courtyard with arched columns, palm trees, and potted plants under clear blue sky at TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar.
No. 7. TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar
    Pwani Mchangani, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.8 (4,002)From $101/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.7/10

    Five restaurants

TUI BLUE Bahari is a polished garden resort on Zanzibar's north-east coast, for couples and families who want strong service and several pools. The beach is the backdrop rather than the swim. It is about 50 minutes from the airport, on the Kiwengwa and Pwani Mchangani strand, with 207 rooms, three pools, five restaurants and three bars. The beach is beautiful and the swimming is tidal, which is the east coast's standing condition.

  8. Sandy beach area with thatched-roof bungalows and a large central structure with conical roof, surrounded by palm trees at sunset.
No. 8. Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa
    Kendwa, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.7 (965)From $228/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.7/10

    Strong Kendwa beachfront location.

  9. Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa pool area with loungers and umbrellas overlooking a sandy beach, palm trees, and turquoise ocean with a sailboat.
No. 9. Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa
    Kiwengwa, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.6 (1,620)From $195/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.7/10

Beautiful Kiwengwa beachfront and tropical gardens.

  10. Lit blue pool with palm trees at night, striped lounge chairs in foreground, white resort building and ocean view beyond.
No. 10. Dream of Zanzibar Resort & Spa
    Uroa, Tanzania
    Five-star★ 4.9 (918)From $141/night ppOverall Palmprint 8.6/10

Premium all-inclusive plan with meals, drinks, cocktails, and appetizers included.

Dream of Zanzibar is a small premium all-inclusive on Uroa beach on Zanzibar's east coast, for couples and families who want a compact, quiet resort. It is the beach week after a safari rather than a big complex, about 45 minutes from the airport, with 36 suites, one restaurant, one bar and one pool on a lagoon shore. Everything is close and the days are unhurried, which is the appeal, and which is also why a week here suits people who are content with one dining room.

Picking the resort is half the work; our Zanzibar travel guide covers the rest: when to go, weather month by month, safety and entry requirements, and how the areas differ.

How this ranking works

Every list on this site uses the same resorts, with the all-inclusive fine print read so you don't have to. The order weighs verified guest ratings, what's genuinely included at the base rate, and how each property performs on the thing this list is about: here, zanzibar.

The seal next to a resort is its Palmprint: a 0 to 10 grade for how well it delivers on this list's promise, the same mark you'll find on its full profile. The details of what we weigh, and what disqualifies a resort outright, live in how we score. Lists are re-reviewed as ratings and policies change; this one was last checked October 2026.

Nungwi or Kendwa at the north tip, where deep water stays at the beach through the tides. On the east coast the lagoon drains at low water, so sea swimming follows the tide table and the pool covers the gap.
