Pickalbatros White Beach Taghazout is a 262-room resort on the Atlantic north of Agadir, and it takes guests of sixteen and over only. That is the reason to look at it: it reads calmer than almost any other resort on this coast, and the design, the rooms and the pool terraces are what guests praise most. Ultra All Inclusive is the only rate the resort sells, so there is no board basis to work out. Four restaurants sit behind that band, an international buffet, an Italian room, a Moroccan one and a food court, with three bars including one on the beach. The recurring criticism is worth taking seriously: the buffet repeats over a week and the cooking is uneven, so use the specialty rooms early rather than saving them. Rooms start at 30 square metres, with a Prestige Suite at 72 and a Royal Suite at 136, and there are swim-up categories. The spa is charged, the transfer is charged, and the minibar terms were not something we could pin down. Our samples run from 283 to 374 dollars a night for two, which is inexpensive for a five-star adults-only resort. Set your expectations about the sea rather than the rate: Taghazout is a surf town, the Atlantic here is windy and lively rather than a calm bay, and the resort sits closer to Taghazout than to central Agadir, so there is nothing much to walk to. Book it for the pools, the quiet and the price, and hire a car if you want to see the coast.
