    Serenity at Coconut Bay

    Five-star, adults-only4.9 guest rating (289)Palmprint 9.3/10From $650/night pp

Serenity at Coconut Bay is a couples-only enclave of plunge-pool suites beside St. Lucia's international airport, for a short luxury trip. It is about 5 minutes from Hewanorra, on the flat southern tip of the island, and shares its beach and its grounds with the much larger Coconut Bay resort next door. The Pitons are a day trip up the coast; the suite, the pool on its terrace and the butler are what you are buying. Guests praise the private plunge pools, the butler service and the quiet, romantic atmosphere of a resort with only 36 suites. The complaints are the nightly price, a beach that depends on Coconut Bay's south-coast conditions, and a calm that some find too subdued after a few days. The thing people wish they had known is that Serenity is a small luxury pocket attached to a big family resort, not a standalone campus: the privacy is real, and the wider dining and activity variety lives next door. The plan is unusually complete: the Greathouse restaurant plus all nine restaurants and seven bars across the shared estate, top-shelf spirits and a personal in-suite bar refreshed daily, 24-hour butler-delivered room service, the water sports and the airport shuttle both ways; the spa and the excursions are extra. Every suite has the plunge pool and the butler, so the upgrades buy space rather than a different experience. Guests over 21 only. Anyone who wants nightlife, or the Pitons from the pool, should look to Soufriere or the north.
