   Centara Ras Fushi is an adults-only island 15 minutes by speedboat from Male, for couples who want a house reef without a seaplane. There are 140 villas, four restaurants, three bars and two pools, and the resort takes guests of eighteen and over. The lagoon and the reef are the reason to come, and the meal plan comes in tiers, so the rate you book decides how much of the island is included. Guests praise the lagoon and the snorkelling, the food variety and the value of the Premium All-Inclusive plan, the overwater and beach villas, and the staff. The complaints are transfer timing and waits at the airport, service that varies between restaurants, thin things to do on a longer stay, and premium activities that cost extra. The thing people wish they had known is that the specialty restaurants need booking rather than walking in, and that Premium All-Inclusive is a different product from the half- and full-board plans. Premium All-Inclusive covers dine-around lunch and dinner across Oceans and the specialty restaurants, a daily selection of premium wines, beers and cocktails, a replenished minibar, Wi-Fi, the non-motorised water sports and snorkelling gear, and a house-reef snorkelling trip by boat; the mandatory round-trip speedboat is charged separately unless a package bundles it, gratuities and motorised sports are extra, and the spa is extra beyond the daily credits the Gold plan carries. Book the restaurant slots in the resort app early. The Lagoon View Beach Villa is the value with sand at the door, and the 42-square-metre Deluxe Sunset Overwater Villa is the view. Families are not admitted.

   Right on Karon Beach, this is Phuket all-inclusive done at scale, a water park with a lazy river for the kids, Spa Cenvaree for the grown-ups, and 14 restaurants and bars so nobody's bored. An easy pick for families who still want Phuket's nightlife close by. Best November through April.
