Punta Cana: its enormous, ever-newer resort supply undercuts Cancún like-for-like, and transfers are shorter and cheaper. The gap narrows at the luxury tier but rarely inverts.
Both are world-class strands with the same seasonal sargassum lottery (April–August). Cancún's north-facing hotel-zone beaches often dodge the worst; Punta Cana counters with sheer width at Bávaro. Draw, decided weekly by the current.

And if the sargassum forecast is scaring you off both, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta sit on the seaweed-free Pacific.
