  1. Large outdoor pool reflecting a modern beige resort building with palm trees under clear blue sky.
No. 1. Barceló Maya Riviera - All Inclusive Adults Only
    Xpu-Ha, Mexico
    Five-star · Adults-only★ 4.9 (43,893)From $168/night ppRooms Palmprint 9.0/10

Large, modern adults-only resort with spacious suite-style rooms.

Barcelo Maya Riviera is the adults-only section of the Barcelo Maya Grand complex, for couples who want a modern suite and a polished atmosphere. The dining of a whole resort estate comes with it. It sits at Xpu-Ha on the Riviera Maya, about 75 minutes from Cancun's airport, with 850 rooms that are all junior suites or suites with terraces and hydromassage tubs, 110 of them with a private pool. It is not a small resort; it is a quiet one inside a very large one.

  2. Sunset over turquoise lagoon at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun with lounge chairs, palm trees, and whitewashed resort buildings.
No. 2. Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
    Riviera Maya, Mexico
    Five-star · Adults-only★ 4.7 (4,730)From $289/night ppRooms Palmprint 9.0/10

    Excellent adults-only romance profile.

  3. Thatched-roof beach bar with wooden structure and bar seating at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, with palm trees and lounge chairs on white sand.
No. 3. Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya
    Akumal, Mexico
    Five-star · Adults-only★ 4.6 (4,972)From $254/night ppRooms Palmprint 9.0/10

    Exceptional swimmable beach and snorkeling.

Secrets Akumal is an adults-only resort of 434 suites on Akumal Beach, and the beach is why it scores 9.3 with us. The water is calm, the reef is close enough to snorkel from the sand, and this is turtle habitat, so the local rules about sunscreen and distance are worth reading before you swim. Sargassum still reaches this coast most springs and summers, which is the one thing the resort cannot manage for you.

  4. Nighttime resort courtyard with illuminated waterfall feature, pool, palm trees, and multi-story hotel buildings at dusk.
    No. 4. Hotel Xcaret Arte
    Playa del Carmen, Mexico
    Five-star · Adults-only★ 4.5 (6,387)From $460/night pp

Exceptional design, art-focused architecture and strong food identity.

The adults-only, arts-themed member of the Xcaret family, and the headline perk is included access to the Xcaret and Xel-Há eco-parks. On site you get rivers and cenotes to swim, hands-on art workshops, and ten restaurants from celebrity chefs. Creative and very Mexican. Best November through May.

  5. Aerial view of UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya with curved orange-roofed buildings framing multiple pools, surrounded by palm trees and tropical vegetation, overlooking turquoise Caribbean waters.
No. 5. UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya
    Kantenah, Mexico
    Five-star · Adults-only★ 4.6 (5,481)From $268/night ppRooms Palmprint 8.9/10

Strong adults-only positioning with a polished, modern Mexican design identity.

UNICO leans hard into a sense of place, an adults-only resort where your personal 'host' books art walks and tequila tastings, and the Esencia spa is built around a cenote-style pool. Smaller and more design-led than the Riviera Maya giants, it's stylish couples' territory. Best November through May.

  6. Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya
No. 6. Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya
    Puerto Morelos, Mexico
    Five-star★ 4.7 (8,269)From $628/night ppRooms Palmprint 8.8/10

    Outstanding family and waterpark offering.

  7. Junior Suite Swim Out with garden view
No. 7. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun
    Puerto Morelos, Mexico
    Five-star★ 4.4 (6,912)From $189/night ppRooms Palmprint 8.5/10

One of the largest on-site water parks in the Caribbean with 14 slides and two lazy rivers

  8. Illuminated pool runs alongside a three-story white resort building at dusk, with lounge chairs and umbrellas lining the beach beyond.
    No. 8. Ocean Riviera Paradise
    Playa del Carmen, Mexico
    Five-star★ 4.7 (57,782)From $142/night ppRooms Palmprint 8.4/10

    True all-inclusive

Ocean Riviera Paradise is a very large family all-inclusive north of Playa del Carmen, for parents who want a water park and a dozen bars. Add a room with a pool at the door and the picture is complete. It is about 45 minutes from Cancun's airport, with 974 rooms, five pools, ten restaurants and twelve bars, a bowling alley, a theatre and a disco. It is a small town with a beach attached, and the beach is the part that disappoints.

  9. Children playing at the water's edge on the beach
No. 9. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal
    Akumal, Mexico
    Five-star★ 4.7 (26,091)From $133/night ppRooms Palmprint 8.3/10

Excellent family infrastructure and water-park access.

  10. High aerial view of the resort with several turquoise pools, a circular bar pavilion and a white-sand beach beside the deep blue sea.
No. 10. Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa
    Riviera Cancun, Mexico

Plan the trip

Picking the resort is half the work; our Riviera Maya travel guide covers the rest: when to go, weather month by month, safety and entry requirements, and how the areas differ.

How this ranking works

Every list on this site uses the same resorts, with the all-inclusive fine print read so you don't have to. The order weighs verified guest ratings, what's genuinely included at the base rate, and how each property performs on the thing this list is about: here, riviera maya swim-up suites.

The seal next to a resort is its Palmprint: a 0 to 10 grade for how well it delivers on this list's promise, the same mark you'll find on its full profile. The details of what we weigh, and what disqualifies a resort outright, live in how we score. Lists are re-reviewed as ratings and policies change; this one was last checked October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

How far is a Riviera Maya swim-up suite from the airport?

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is about 20 minutes from Cancún (CUN). Secrets Maroma is about 35 minutes. Barceló Maya Riviera and Secrets Akumal are about 75 minutes, and UNICO 20°87° is about 90.

Is a swim-up suite the same as a swim-up bar?

No. This page requires a recorded swim-up suite, a room whose terrace meets the water. A swim-up bar is a separate feature and is not assumed from the suite.
