The 8 Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya is what you choose when you want Mexico's Caribbean without Cancún's hotel-zone energy: the same turquoise water, but backed by jungle instead of high-rises, with cenotes to swim, Tulum's ruins down the road, and resorts that spread out rather than stack up. The strip runs from Puerto Morelos down through Playa del Carmen to Tulum, all fed by Cancún's airport.

The ranking below orders the corridor's resorts by real guest ratings, our score breakdowns, and how much the wristband genuinely covers. Tap any resort for photos and the included-vs-extra picture, and see our Riviera Maya guide — or the head-to-head with Cancún — if you're deciding between the two.

    Park Hyatt Riviera Maya
    Riviera Maya, Mexico
    Five-star4.3 (1,039)$800+/night

This is a big deal — Park Hyatt has never done all-inclusive before. Their first attempt is in the Riviera Maya with enormous rooms (the smallest is 550 sq ft) and the kind of understated luxury Park Hyatt is known for. Starting at $1,500/night, it's not cheap, but for the brand's first all-inclusive it'll likely be polished to perfection. Book early — first-year pricing is always the best you'll ever see.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Riviera Maya better than Cancún?

Different, not better: the Riviera Maya is quieter, greener, and closer to cenotes and ruins; Cancún has the shorter airport run and the walkable hotel-zone nightlife. Beach quality is comparable — both face the same sargassum season, so timing matters more than the choice between them.

When is the best time to visit the Riviera Maya?

The sweet spot is December–April. The rainy season runs June–October, heaviest September–October. In the hurricane belt, June–November, peaking September–October.
