Every resort below runs a dedicated teen program, and the ranking weighs whether guests report it actually programmed rather than simply present on the map. Slides with a height minimum, sports and watersports, evening events pitched at their age, and enough ground to roam are what separate the resorts that hold this age group from the ones that merely admit them.

Plan the trip
Picking the resort is half the work; our Riviera Maya travel guide covers the rest: when to go, weather month by month, safety and entry requirements, and how the areas differ.
How this ranking works
Every list on this site draws from the same catalog: resorts we've individually researched, with the all-inclusive fine print read so you don't have to. The order weighs verified guest ratings, what's genuinely included at the base rate, and how each property performs on the thing this list is about: here, riviera maya teens.
The seal next to a resort is its Palmprint: our 0–10 grade for how well it delivers on this list's promise, the same mark you'll find on its full profile. The details of what we weigh, and what disqualifies a resort outright, live in how we score. Lists are re-reviewed as ratings and policies change; this one was last checked August 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Are the eco-parks worth it with teenagers?
They are the strongest argument for this coast at this age. The big parks combine snorkelling in underground rivers, zip lines and cliff jumps with enough scale to fill a full day, and they land better with teens than with small children, who tire before the good parts. Most resorts sell tickets and transfers, which is usually easier than arranging it yourself.
How far is the Riviera Maya from Cancún airport?
Roughly 30 to 90 minutes depending on how far south you go, against 15 to 30 for the Cancún Hotel Zone. It is not a reason to rule the coast out, but with teenagers who have already had a flight it is worth knowing before you book the furthest resort on the list.
Riviera Maya or Cancún for a family with teens?
The Riviera Maya has the bigger waterparks, more resort grounds and the better excursions; Cancún has the shorter transfer and somewhere to walk to when the resort wears thin. Pick by whether your teenagers are the type to fill a huge property or the type who want to get off it. Both rankings are on this site, so you can compare the actual resorts rather than the idea.
