There are 90 villas, four restaurants, an infinity pool and the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant, glazed and six metres down, which is the thing guests remember.

Emerald Maldives is a Deluxe All-Inclusive island in Raa Atoll, for couples and families who want the plan to cover every outlet on it. There are 120 villas split evenly between the beach and the water, on twenty hectares with 1.5 kilometres of white sand and a house reef you can swim to. Four restaurants, two bars, a dive centre and the Dolphin Kids Club are the rest of it, and the transfer takes about 45 minutes and is not in the rate.

Baglioni Resort holds Maagau Island in Dhaalu Atoll, an Italian-run private island reached by a forty-five minute seaplane from Male. Villas come on the beach, over the water and with private pools, and three restaurants cover Italian and Japanese cooking alongside the international kitchen, with a pool bar. Guests rate the food and the villa hosts highly. The lagoon is calm and you can snorkel from the shore, though the house reef is decent rather than one of the atoll's great ones.

It offers diving, villas with pools and a plan that covers most of the bill, and it is reached by a domestic flight to Kooddoo and then a speedboat of about 15 minutes, well past seaplane range from Male. That journey is the price of the location: almost on the equator, with the emptiest lagoons in the country and no other island in sight.

It has changed from a family island to an adults-only one, so older reviews describe a different place.
