Six Caribbean All-Inclusives With Water Parks and a Suite for Six

A family of six usually hits two walls when booking an all-inclusive. Most rooms are built for four, so the family is split across two rooms. And the resorts with real water parks are often the ones priced like a second mortgage.

The six resorts below clear both walls. Each has water slides or a water park for the kids, each sells one suite where six or more can stay together, and none sits at the top of the Caribbean price range.

How we picked

We started from every Caribbean resort in our catalog with a single suite for six or more. Connecting rooms did not count, and neither did adults-only resorts or resorts where all-inclusive is an optional extra.

From that list we kept the ones with water slides or a water park in our research, then ranked them by family fit, guest reviews and price. Beaches Turks & Caicos has the best water park of all of them, but it costs far more than the others, so it is the splurge rather than a pick.

   Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites is an all-suite family resort at Rose Hall, for families who want a lazy river 15 minutes from the plane. It has 319 suites, seven restaurants and six bars, an infinity pool, that lazy river and a children's water park, with a beach shared across the Rose Hall complex and Iberostar Waves next door open to guests. It is the Suites rather than the Grand, which is a separate resort with a history of its own.

   ·The biggest water park on this list: Rockaway Bay has 26 slides, and the resort adds a lazy river and kids' pools with their own flume slides. The kids' club is for ages 4 to 12.

   A mega-resort built for energy, a casino and nightlife complex, 13 pools (one adults-only), a Jack Nicklaus golf course, and rock memorabilia everywhere you look. It's loud, fun, and genuinely all-ages, with enough square footage that families and party-minded groups coexist. Punta Cana sun runs year-round.

Ask for the Rock Suite Two Bedroom, about 2,500 square feet with its terrace, three king beds and two sofa beds, for up to six. This is a very large resort with a casino, so it suits a family that likes a lot going on.

   Royalton Saint Lucia is a large family all-inclusive at Smugglers Cove, for families who want a sheltered cove and dinner without a reservation. It is about 70 minutes from Hewanorra at the island's northern tip, with 290 rooms, nine restaurants, eleven bars, pools with swim-up bars and a splash park for children. Guest opinion is more divided here than at most resorts on the island, and our score reflects that rather than the brochure.

Royalton Saint Lucia

The Luxury Presidential Suite sleeps up to seven, listed as four adults and three children, with two bathrooms and Diamond Club butler service. It has one bedroom, so most of the family sleeps on a sofa bed or in the living space.

Before you book

Give everyone's age at the time of travel. A suite that sleeps six often has a lower limit on adults, and resorts count teenagers differently.

Check who sleeps where. Some of these suites use sofa beds for the fifth and sixth guest, which works for children and less well for a grandparent.
