Grenada
Grenada is the Spice Island and the quiet end of the Caribbean: a green, mountainous island with nutmeg and cocoa growing in the hills, an underwater sculpture park off the coast, and a small, polished set of resorts on the beaches around the airport at the island's south-west tip. Grand Anse is the famous strand, and the coves either side of it, from L'Anse aux Épines to Pink Gin Beach, hold the all-inclusives, most within fifteen minutes of landing.

Where the resorts are
Almost everything sits in Saint George parish at the south-west tip, which is where the airport, the capital and the best beaches all are. Grand Anse is the two-mile crescent the island is known for, with hotels along it and the capital, St. George's, a water-taxi ride round the point. Pink Gin Beach and Magazine Beach, next to the airport, hold the largest resorts. L'Anse aux Épines, on the peninsula to the east, is the quieter cove with the smaller, older-money properties.
It is a small island, so nowhere is far: the rainforest at Grand Etang is under an hour from any resort, and the north coast's beaches and spice estates are a day.
When to go
December to May is the dry season and the sweet spot, with the driest, sunniest weeks from January to April. June to November is greener and wetter, with short heavy showers rather than washed-out days, and it is the hurricane season. Grenada sits at the southern edge of the belt and is hit far less often than the islands to its north, but not never, so a fall trip deserves insurance.
Grand Anse and the south-west beaches face west and are largely spared the sargassum that reaches the east coast.
Beyond the resort
The Underwater Sculpture Park in Molinere Bay, a short boat from Grand Anse, is the signature snorkel. Grand Etang's rainforest has a crater lake, monkeys and waterfall walks; Annandale and Concord falls are the easy ones. The spice estates and the chocolate factories in the hills are Grenada's own thing, and St. George's, with its horseshoe harbour and Fort George, is the prettiest capital in the Windwards. Carriacou, the sister island, is a ferry or a short flight away for a day of empty beaches.
