Pullman Maldives Maamutaa is a true all-inclusive private island in the far south of the Maldives, built for families and active travellers. It offers diving, villas with pools and a plan that covers most of the bill, and it is reached by a domestic flight to Kooddoo and then a speedboat of about 15 minutes, well past seaplane range from Male. That journey is the price of the location: almost on the equator, with the emptiest lagoons in the country and no other island in sight.
Guests praise the depth of the all-inclusive, the size of the villas, the friendliness of the staff and the diving and snorkelling. The complaints are the transfer, which is long and expensive, the special dinners and premium events that cost extra despite the all-inclusive badge, and a remoteness that some find isolating by the end of a week. The thing people wish they had known is that the Aqua Villa, with its underwater bedroom, is a novelty to splurge on rather than the best value on the island.
The plan covers unlimited meals across the three restaurants, the drinks list with some premium labels excluded, the kids' club and the non-motorised water sports; the spa, the motorised sports and the transfer are extra.
