Sharm el-Sheikh for reef-front five-stars with the clearest water and the shortest walk to the snorkelling. The Red Sea bays near Hurghada for self-contained, low-rise luxury on a sweep of sand. Marsa Alam for the diving and for a coast that has barely been built on. Hurghada town itself leans to value rather than luxury.
