Our full take on Sandos Cancun

Sandos Cancun is a compact adults-only all-inclusive in the Hotel Zone, for couples and adult groups who want a beachfront base with an active pool scene. The city is at the door. It is about 20 minutes from the airport, a four-star with 214 rooms, five restaurants, four bars and three infinity pools stepping down towards the beach. It is small by Cancun standards, which is the point for some guests and the limit for others.

Guests praise the Hotel Zone beachfront, the three-level infinity pools, the staff and the entertainment, the adults-only mood, and the Italian and Asian restaurants, Frattini and Gaijin. The complaints are that the buffet and the Seasons restaurant are inconsistent, that waits build at the restaurants and bars, that the indoor bar is small and crowded, and that some rooms and areas feel dated. The thing people wish they had known is that the specialty restaurants are the safe bets, and that the water sports benefit is a daily allowance rather than unlimited.
