PrideInn Flamingo sits on the sand at Shanzu, on the coast north of Mombasa, with 137 rooms and a large free-form pool at the centre of it. Two pools, a children's pool and waterslides make the family case, and three restaurants cover local, international and Mediterranean cooking, with the Istanbul Beach Cave built into the rock. The Indian Ocean here is tide-dependent, so on some afternoons the pool is the more reliable swim.
All-inclusive is an optional rate rather than the default, and this is a resort where the small print earns reading: room service is charged, the spa is charged, and we have not been able to verify what counts as a premium drink, so ask before you assume. Gratuities are included. Children stay free and there is a kids club, though the resort has not published the ages it takes.
