Bavaro or Uvero Alto with teenagers?
Bavaro packs in the largest resorts, the most facilities and the shortest transfer from the airport, which usually makes it the safer choice with teens. Uvero Alto is quieter and further north, better if you want calm and worse if your teenagers want a scene. The trade is stimulation against space, and at this age most families want the former.
Can teenagers use the swim-up bars?
They can use the pool and order soft drinks; alcohol is not served to minors and wristbands mark who is who. The rules that actually matter end up being yours: agree in advance which pools are fair game, set a meal check-in, and use the resort Wi-Fi for a group thread, because shouting across four pools does not scale.
What is there for teens to do outside a Punta Cana resort?
More than the strip suggests: zip lines and cenote swims at the adventure parks, catamaran and snorkel days off the Bavaro reef, buggy tours, and surfing up at Macao. Resorts run vetted excursions to all of it, which is the practical way to give teenagers a day out without handing them the coast.
