Every resort below welcomes children and runs genuine kids' programming. We rank on what parents actually vet: supervised club ages, rooms that sleep four without a rollaway, pools a toddler can use, and dining that does not turn dinner into a negotiation. Italian plans run lighter than Caribbean ones, so tap through for the included-versus-extra picture before comparing rates, and see our Italy guide for the Sicily-or-Sardinia decision.

Plan the trip
Picking the resort is half the work; our Italy travel guide covers the rest: when to go, weather month by month, safety and entry requirements, and how the areas differ.
How this ranking works
Every list on this site draws from the same catalog: resorts we've individually researched, with the all-inclusive fine print read so you don't have to. The order weighs verified guest ratings, what's genuinely included at the base rate, and how each property performs on the thing this list is about: here, italy family.
The seal next to a resort is its Palmprint: our 0–10 grade for how well it delivers on this list's promise, the same mark you'll find on its full profile. The details of what we weigh, and what disqualifies a resort outright, live in how we score. Lists are re-reviewed as ratings and policies change; this one was last checked September 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Sicily or Sardinia for a family holiday?
Sicily when the beach is only half the point: temples, Etna, Baroque towns and the food are all within a day of the resorts, and the resorts are more affordable. Sardinia for the swimming, with coves and water that stay beautiful in August, at a higher price and with much less to do off the beach.
When should families visit Italy's islands?
June and September for warm sea and room on the beach. July and August are hot, busy and priced accordingly, though Sardinia's water is at its best then. The season winds down in October on both islands.
