JOIA Aruba by Iberostar is a new five-star hotel a few steps from Eagle Beach, for travellers who want modern rooms and pools and the choice of a plan. All-inclusive is a package here rather than the product. It is about 15 minutes from the airport, on the low-rise strip, and it sits just off the sand rather than on it: Eagle Beach is across the way, and the hotel's own life is around its three pools. A week here is as much Aruba as you choose to make it.

Guests praise the beach access, the new rooms and their design, the pools and the fact that a chair is easy to find, and the food for those on the all-inclusive plan. The complaints are whether that plan is worth it against Aruba's own restaurants, the off-beach position, housekeeping that varies, and invitations to a sales presentation that some guests found hard to shake. The thing people wish they had known is the first: all-inclusive is a package here, and eating out is often the better way to spend the money.
