We had a short 4-day stay in this absolutely beautiful destination, perfect for a relaxing and unforgettable escape. The setting is breathtaking, with stunning views, a peaceful atmosphere, and a true sense of luxury throughout the stay. The service feels warm and attentive, and every detail is thou...
We spent 5 nights here and it was perfect. The beach, the facilities, and the food were delightful. But I have to say that the service was better than all of it. If you are looking for a chill vacation, prioritizing rest, don’t hesitate, book it!
Great hotel in a superb location unfortunately let down by the desperate need for maintenance and upgrades. General management is lethargic but enthusiastic. A lovely holiday save for the many items that are old, rusty and broken.
My wife and I stayed here for five nights in July. From start to finish we found everything to be well organized, professional and personable. We opted for the boat ride to and from the island. The crew were all very helpful and ensured our transition from the boat to land was smooth. We had an ...
Absolutely LOVED this property! We stayed here for 5 days in June (off-season), and the resort was not full so we had a lot of things to ourselves. There are two pools and two restaurants to enjoy. The staff are incredible, friendly, attentive and you really get to know them. The food was great and ...

What the week is actually like
Golfinho (buffet breakfast, themed dinners with live cooking), Clube Naval (local dishes and light bites), plus a seafood/Mediterranean-sushi venue; Neptune Bar, beach bar and swim-up bar; dinner rotates between venues

Family pool and adults-only pool plus a dedicated kids pool; many villas have private plunge pools
Calm, shallow leeward bays facing the mainland, but a large tidal range exposes sandbanks and channels so swimming conditions change through the day (Mozambique travel guides); best snorkeling is Two Mile Reef, a short boat ride away, tide permitting; Indian Ocean so no Atlantic sargassum belt
- Caveat: Water conditions vary through the year
Counts come from the resort's own published information; the scores are ours, from the Palmprint file below.

Where it costs you

What else the research turned up
Things to know before you book
- This is a remote Mozambique island resort inside the Bazaruto National Park context, so the setting is the main luxury.
- The beach scenery is exceptional, but tides can change how easy it is to swim directly from shore.
- Expect a quiet, nature-led stay rather than a polished urban-resort experience.
Hidden tips
- Pack reef/water shoes because several guest sources mention tidal conditions and wet approaches.
- Use the resort as a base for dunes, dhow trips, diving, snorkeling and marine-life excursions.
- Travelers expecting ultra-slick five-star consistency should weigh recent maintenance comments carefully.
What guests say
Most loved
- Remote private-island setting and wide beaches
- Friendly, attentive staff
- Large villas and private outdoor space
- Marine activities, dunes, diving and island excursions
Most common complaints
- Some maintenance and room-condition inconsistency
- Tides can affect easy ocean swimming at some times
- Dining variety and service pacing can be inconsistent
Things people wish they had known
- The island is remote and best for travelers who want nature, quiet and excursions rather than nightlife.
- Tide conditions materially affect the beach experience.
- Bring essentials because shopping options on the island are limited.
From Reddit
Reddit mentions are limited but positive: travelers in luxury and honeymoon-planning discussions suggest Anantara Bazaruto as a strong beach add-on after safari or the Seychelles, especially for travelers seeking a remote Mozambique island resort rather than a busier beach destination.
Room intelligence
- Best Room Category
- Two-Bedroom Sea View Pool VillaOfficial accommodation descriptions position the two-bedroom sea-view pool villas as the strongest family/private-pool category.
